HUSSARS OFFICER'S SWORD-SOLD A rare 10th Hussars sword with 34 1/4 inches blade, with excellent clear engraving of Prince Of Wales's Own 10th Hussars, Prince Of Wales feathers, Crowned VR, battle honours - Peninsula, Waterloo, and Sevastopol on both sides, foliage and retailer - H.Poole& Co., Saville Row, London. 14TH LIGHT DRAGOON 1796 TROOPER'S SWORD A good clean blade of 32 1/2 inches marked with Crowned ordnance mark and balance points on back edge. Iron hilt with leather bound grip, and marked 14 LD C 50. Iron scabbards also marked 14 LD C 50, and also 50 on other side. This regiment took part in several battles in the Peninsula, and other similarly marked swords exist - see pictures. 15TH HUSSARS SHOULDER BELT & POUCH Gilded fittings and thread on red cloth, with red Morocco leather backing. Belt with Crowned ER VII and pouch is Victorian. Some moth damage present to belt edges and pouch.
1788 LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD 35 1/2 inch double fullered blade engraved with Half-moon, two Cavalrymen and Stands of arms, and also with the maker JJ Runkel on the back edge. 1796 CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD - EXCEPTIONAL BLADE -SOLD This sword has one of the finest blades I have come across from the Georgian period. The blade is 33 inches long, and is finely engraved for half of its length on both sides, with foliage and stands of arms, and retains a lot of its original polish. The hilt has a fluted back strap and is lightly pitted, and has a copper wire bound fishskin grip. The top of the scabbard has a floral design with an oval for the maker's name, but unfortunately this is no legible.
1796 HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICER'S DRESS -RESERVED Blade of 31 1/2 inches, with narrow fuller, brass boat shaped hilt with about half of its gilding remaining, and silver wire bound grip in good condition. 1796 HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICER'S DRESS SWORD A good condition Dress Sword with 32 inch plain double edged blade , hilt with about half of its gilding remaining, and with original simulated silver wire grip. No scabbard.
1796 HEAVY CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD A good trooper's sword, 34 1/4 inch blade with Crowned ordnance mark, and two B's on back edge for balance points. Makers name is no longer visible. Full disc hilt with original langets and marked A38, and leather bound grip complete. Iron scabbard in good solid condition and marked A32, it has a few dents, but blade fits in easily. . 17th LANCERS OFFICER'S SWORD-SOLD An officer's sword from one of the regiments which took part in the famous Charge Of The Light Brigade. The blade of 35 inches is dark frost engraved with Death Or Glory, Skull and Cross Bones, Battle Honours for the Crimea War - Alma, Balaclava, Sevastopol, and Inkerman, Crowned VR, XVII Lancers, foliage, and retailer details - J.Irvine, Master Tailor, 17th Lancers. 1912 CAVALRY OFFFICER'S SWORD-ER II-WILKINSON A good condition current issue sword with 35 inch blade, engraved with Crowned Royal Arms and ER II on both sides, Wilkinson logo and foliage. Blade has some small patches of pitting, but not too bad. Back edge numbered 104305 (after 1974). Plated hilt with wire bound fishskin grip complete. Field service scabbard in good condition. 2nd LIFE GUARDS OFFICER'S SWORD - 1832 PATTERN A very rare Household Cavalry officer's sword with un-fullered blade of 34 1/4 inches, engraved with LG 2, Crowned Flaming Grenade, and Foliage on both sides, and Andrews, 9, Pall Mall, London. Also on back edge - Proved. This sword is similar to the one in Robson - Swords Of The British Army, page 136, plate 124. The pommel and ferrule are brass, and the hilt is steel, and engraved with Flaming Grenades, and Lightning Bolts. Fishskin grip is complete, but wire binding is missing. No scabbard.
3rd. DRAGOONS 1796 HEAVY CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD Blade of 35 inches with hatchet point, full disc hilt with lancets and leather bound grip. scabbard marked for 3rd. Dragoons who served in the Peninsula.
5TH DRAGOON GUARDS TROOPER'S HELMET-SOLD A good 1871 pattern brass trooper's helmet with red and white plume, leather backed chin strap and leather liner. There are some minor dents which are to be expected and it has various stamped marks on the rim. 60TH KINGS OWN ROYAL RIFLES CORPS OFFICER'S SWORD A rare Victorian officer's sword of the oldest Rifles Regiment, which was raised in the 1700's to serve in North America. The 32 1/2 inch blade is engraved with Crowned LX (60th.), Crowned - The Kings Own Royal Rifle Corps, Strung Bugle on both sides, owner's initials - J.B.P., foliage and retailer - Alfred Pillin, Manufacturer, 31 Gerrard St., London. ASHTON UNDER LYNE OFFICER'S SWORD A very good condition sword with 32 3/3 inch blade. Engraved with owner's name - Ensign Lees, Ashton Under Lyne Volunteers and date 1860. Also with two Victorian Crowns, ornate Strung Bugle, Crossed Flags and foliage. Iron hilt with Crowned Strung Bugle and wire bound fishskin grip complete. In iron scabbard, also in good condition. BLUE & GILT 1796 LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD-SOLD A superb blue and gilt sword with a much more elaborate hilt than usual. It has ornate faceting on the back strap, guard, ferrule, langets, and also has a facetted ball on the quillon. It still has very good blue colour, and much gilding remaining. The blade is 32 1/2 inches long, and engraved with Crowned GR, Cavalryman, Crowned Royal Arms, Stand of Arms and foliage. Under one lancet is the maker - Woolley, and under the other - Warranted. The rest of the blade is in very good clean condition, and the scabbard is evenly pitted. An excellent sword overall. More pictures can be seen on gunstar.co.uk.

GEORGIAN CAVALRY TROOPER'S SWORD A pre 1788 cavalry trooper's sword with 35 1/2 inch flat blade with clipped point. Brass hilt with fishskin grip. Blade has patches of pitting and remains of crowned ordnance mark. The same pattern of sword can be seen in Richard Deller''s Cavalry book, plate 1.3. GEORGIAN OFFICER'S SWORD An excellent and unusual sword with 29 inch blade, engraved with Union Flag & Lances, Floral Panel, and other motifs. Blade is grey but smooth to touch. NAMED SCOTS GUARDS OFFICER'S SWORD-WILKINSON A good Wilkinson sword with 32 1/2 inch dark frost engraved blade, numbered 35790 (1898) with Battle Hon. from Dettingen to Suakim 1885, and with owner's initials AESC for Lt. Col. Albert Edward Stanley Clarke. Hilt with Scots Guards badge and wire bound fishskin grip complete, also with sword knot and in good condition scabbard. Served in South Africa and took part in advance on Kimberley and in actions at Belmont, Graspan, Modder River and Magersfontein. Was ADC to General Paget, Commanding 1st Division at Aldershot.
