1796 PIPE-BACKED LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD
A Georgian 34 3/4 inch pipe-backed blade with prominent 12 1/2 inch false back edge, in very good condition. Iron beaked hilt with wire bound leather grip, and in iron scabbard with key hole throat opening.

A rare 1796 Light Cavalry Officer's sword with regimental markings - the 22nd. served in the Peninsula War. Blade of 32 1/4 inches engraved with 22nd. L.D., strung Bugle, Royal arms, Stands of Arms, Crowned GR, Victory and Swags. Also, beneath a lancet - Woolley & Co.. Iron hilt with sire bound leather grip, some losses to leather, but gip is solid. Iron scabbard marked - Woolley & Co, Birmingham, and one split ring is partially broken. 5TH DRAGOON GUARDS TROOPER'S HELMET-SOLD
A good 1871 pattern brass trooper's helmet with red and white plume, leather backed chin strap and leather liner. There are some minor dents which are to be expected and it has various stamped marks on the rim. Marked for 5DG and 6DG, as sometimes troopers were transferred to similar regiments to make up numbers. More pictures on my ad on gunstar.co.uk

14TH LIGHT DRAGOON 1796 TROOPER'S SWORD
A good clean blade of 32 1/2 inches marked with Crowned ordnance mark and balance points on back edge. Iron hilt with leather bound grip, and marked 14 LD C 50. Iron scabbards also marked 14 LD C 50, and also 50 on other side. This regiment took part in several battles in the Peninsula, and other similarly marked swords exist - see pictures. Also, on pages 42 and 43 of Richard Deller's book, The British Cavalry Sword, there are pictures of similarly marked swords. More pictures on my ad on gunstar.co.uk
